Renault signs union agreement on teleworking
24th January 2007
Renault’s management and its trade unions signed an agreement on 22 January offering some employees the opportunity to work from home two to four days a week. The telecommuting agreement applies to administrative personnel, technicians, engineers and
managers at Renault, on a voluntary basis.
To work from home two to four days a week, employees must have approval from supervisors and spend at least one day a week at their usual workplace. The arrangement can be reversed at any time, subject to a one-month notice period. Teleworkers retain their individual and collective entitlements applicable within the company.
Renault will cover the cost of the equipment needed to work from home – including a laptop computer, a high-speed Internet connection and an ergonomic chair.
Renault says the agreement was spurred by recent technological change that facilitate new ways of working and offer interested employees the opportunity to strike a better balance between career and family.
