NZ circuit upgrade includes driver training facility
22nd August 2008
The Manfeild Park New Zealand is to under go a NZ$10-12 million redevelopment programme that includes the building of facilities for training young drivers.
The programme, which is expected to take ten years to complete will see the refurbishment of the current 3.03km road circuit, the building of a "roadscape" complete with skid pad suitable for training young and novice drivers at road speed and the building a permanent all-terrain facility for off-road vehicle driver training, vehicle demonstrations and testing.
Manfeild Park Trust chairman Ben Vanderkolk said, "Manfeild circuit is about more than motorsport. The road simulation course has been proposed to address a gap in the driver training market for a safe, multi-element course away from the public road environment.”
Other developments include additional corporate suites for the pitlane and a motorsport technology centre.
