Internet distributor benefits from closures of traditional parts retailers
19th June 2007
The internet aftermarket retailer Car Parts Direct says that around half of all car parts suppliers in the UK have closed in the last 10 years, and that accordingly, more motorists nowadays order parts online, especially for major purchases where good savings can be made and availability of spare parts is better since sellers supply to a world market rather than a local community.
Car Parts Direct, which carries 200,000 parts for cars, has just spent £80,000 completing an upgrade to its website to make shopping for car parts online easier. The company claims its online car parts sales are increasing at a rate of 30% a year.
