BERU F1 Systems among finalists for 2006 IET Innovation Awards
15th September 2006
The Norfolk-based motor sport technology specialist BERU F1 Systems has been selected as a finalist in the 2006 IET Innovation Awards for its Wire in Composite (WiC) technology. The awards presented annually, promote and recognise innovation best practice in industry and across all engineering disciplines.
WiC technology offers improved protection and packaging for wiring installations in harsh environments. Conceived for motorsport applications in which wiring harnesses must be mounted as low and flat on a vehicle chassis as possible, WiC is claimed to be equally suitable for aerospace, marine and other ground vehicle applications.
WiC looms can be built to virtually any shape or form offering the ability to incorporate sharp bend radii without the risk of strain or chafing found in a conventional harness.
The awards are organised by the IET, Europe’s largest professional engineering society with over 150,000 members. The award winners will be announced at Savoy Place, London on October 11th.
Founded in 1993 and since 2001, a specialist division of BERU AG, BERU F1 Systems offers advanced design and manufacturing facilities for vehicle wiring harness systems, tyre pressure monitoring, stress measurement and composites. Supplied to world championship winning cars in every major formula and every Formula 1 team, components from BERU F1 Systems are now available in military, road car, aerospace and nautical applications. In January 2006, BERU F1 Systems won the prestigious MIA Technology and Innovation award for its DigiTyre tyre pressure monitoring system.
