Compressed air car inventor sells licence to Tata Motors

12th Febuary 2007

M. Guy Nègre, the French founder of the car development company MDI and the inventor of its key compressed air powertrain technology, is reported by the French paper Le Monde of 9 February to have signed a deal with Tata Motors, which will provide development funds, the lack of which has to date prevented the compressed air car, first announced a decade ago, from coming to market.

MDI will reportedly grant a manufacturing licence for the Indian market for an unknown consideration, but one said by MDI to be sufficient to complete development and fund production.
