Bentley to host Manufacturing Alliance automotive conference
11th October 2006
At the Bentley factory in Crewe on 18 October the Manufacturing Alliance will hold an ‘Automotive Excellence’ conference at which more than 100 UK manufacturing executives will gather to discuss the future of the UK’s automotive manufacturing sector.
The meeting is the latest in a series of countrywide summit meetings, held under the banner of The Manufacturing Alliance, at manufacturing plants such as Airbus, JCB, and BAE.
The objective has been to address at industry and government level a host of challenges the manufacturing sector – currently shedding around 100,000 jobs a year – is facing. The conference will examine how attaining high levels of production excellence by applying world class standards and techniques like Japanese-inspired kaizen methodology can lift the sector out of the doldrums. Delegates will also have the opportunity to visit the Bentley production line.
Speakers will include Doug Dickson, Manufacturing Director, Dave Hudson, Senior Production Manager and Shaun McNeil, Training and Development Manager, all of Bentley Motors, and Alan Begg, CEO of the Automotive Academy.
