National Fuelsaver Corp tests new patented third manifold device
8th June 2007
The American firm National Fuelsaver Corp. has just completed testing a prototype engine implementing only one-third of the fuel saving features described in its US patent no. 6907859, and says it has achieved a 15.2% mpg increase under the EPA Federal Test Procedure.
The patent describes the use of a third, return manifold, and takes inspiration from Honda’s first Civic engine, whose second intake manifold received a U.S. patent, no. 3878826.
The system referred to is the second fuel-saving technology developed by the company to be ‘confirmed by the federal government’. The first is was its Platinum Gas Saver, of which over half a million have been sold since Consumer Protection concluded: "Independent testing shows greater fuel savings with the Gas Saver than the 22% claimed by the developer."
With a connection to a vacuum line, the Gas Saver adds platinum vapour to the engine’s air/fuel, which is said to enable an engine to burn 90% of the fuel consumed instead of the average 68%. Platinum is somewhat more expensive and scarce than petroleum, however.
