Trials of digital pen shows 50% increase in added dealer repair revenue
7th September 2007
Trials of a new digital Dealer Datapen that can be used by workshop staff just like a normal pen have shown an increase in added dealer retail repair revenue of 50% from an average of 1.6 hours to 2.4 hours of labour sales. In trials completed at three dealerships between Jan and July 2007, the amount of extra repair work identified by technicians and then carried out on vehicles that passed through their workshops rose significantly compared to the previous processes in place.
The Dealer Datapen - produced by FGA Computer Systems with the help of the digital pen and paper specialist Destiny Wireless - lets workshop staff quickly and easily complete point-by-point vehicle check forms. Because there is no need to enter information on a PC or PDA, trials have shown that workshop staff are much more likely to complete these forms, which can be a crucial tool in generating additional repair sales.
The data collected through the Dealer Datapen is transferred in real time into FGA's Digital Vehicle Health Check (DVHC) software, letting service and aftersales staff identify additional repair/replacement opportunities.
