Alfa Romeo to race diesels in WTCC
6th October 2006
According to a report in the UK magazine Autosport, the Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo will return to competing in the FIA World Touring Car Championship with diesel-engined cars.
Autosport’s story says that Alfa Romeo’s return to the WTCC with a manufacturer backed team was approved at board level in September and that a racing version of its new 147 model was being developed to the FIA’s Super 2000 technical regulations. It is thought that up to four gasoline-engined cars would be entered alongside two diesel-engined cars.
