JCI breaks ground for new Macedonian chip plant

Johnson Controls (JCI), the tier 1 U.S. automotive interior supplier, laid the foundation stone of a $20m new automotive electronics plant in a free economic zone near Skopje in Macedonia, yesterday, 5 October. Production of printed circuit boards at the new plant is due to start at the end of 2007, and JCI expects that by the end of 2008, around 150 new employees will have been hired.

JCI already operates a development centre 200 km away from the new plant in Sofia, Bulgaria.
