Citroën unveils hybrid WRC car

At the Paris Motor Show Citroën has unveiled a hybrid concept version of its C4 FIA World Rally Championship car.
The Citroën C4 WRC Hymotion4 is equipped with a kinetic energy recovery system of a type similar to those that will be permitted in Formula One in 2009 comprising a 125kw electric motor-generator linked to the rear differential, and a pack of 990-cell batteries, in which the recovered energy is stored, positioned over the fuel tank.
Although the future WRC regulations are not yet confirmed Citroën says it expects them future to be more environmentally-friendly technologies and has developed the C4 WRC Hymotion4 to demonstrate the poissibilities.
A statement released by the French manufacturer said, "C4 WRC HYmotion4 fits perfectly with Citroën's long-term commitment to motor sport and its consequential environmental policy. This concept underpins the brand's policy to conceive very high performance cars which respect the environment and is the first step prior to other developments which will be guided by future evolutions to the FIA regulations."
