Royal Academy of Engineering/BNFL Education Innovation Prize

This new award from the Royal Academy of Engineering with a prize of £10,000 and a trophy has been instituted to recognize both organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions in the whole field of Engineering Education. The award is focused on innovation in the approach taken to teaching the subject.

A single prize of £10,000 and a trophy is awarded annually.

Eligibility
The Academy will be looking at engineering education in the broadest sense and suitable candidates may be drawn from schools, colleges, universities and business schools; e-learning organizations; company specific and industry-wide training programmes; private or publicly funded award schemes; learned society IPD or CPD programmes; training providers and individuals. All nominations must however be UK based.

Selection Committee
The award of the Royal Academy of Engineering/BNFL Education Innovation Award is entirely at the discretion of the Selection Committee and any decision of the Committee is final on all matters.

In making their decision, the Selection Committee will review each proposal with respect to the following criteria:

  • Excellence of the content and material.
  • Uniqueness or novelty introduced in its execution.
  • Demonstrable metrics of success including student/participant feedback and lasting impact.
  • Take up by others.
  • Published professional reviews.
  • Media interest generated.

Application procedures
Before completing the application form, the proposer should first read the Instructions for Proposers. The proposer will act as the point of contact for all correspondence with regard to the application.

Letters from two independent referees supporting the proposal are required. Referees should consult the Instructions for Referees before composing their letters of support. Proposers are responsible for ensuring that these letters are received at the Academy.

The deadline date for receipt of the completed application form and both Referees’ letters is 1 November.
